About Us
Hope for Books was founded in the summer of 2026 through a student research project on the state of reading and literacy among children. Our research revealed that a complete, easily accessible, state-by-state directory of book banks couldn't be found anywhere online. That gap became the spark for Hope for Books.
We set a goal to build a thorough directory with multiple verified book banks per state. We're actively working toward that goal, adding newly verified book banks and donation locations as we discover them.
This resource exists so that anyone who wants to help can take part in solving the literacy and book access challenges our country faces today.
Hope for Books was born out of a passion for reading and service — and we hope to pass that passion on to as many others as we can.
Our Service Story
Our passion for books turned into a love of service through our hours volunteering with Promising Pages, the Charlotte, NC–based book bank. Promising Pages started us on this journey, and we're forever grateful they've allowed us to partner with them over the past five years.
Our family has refurbished close to 10,000 books for the book bank and held numerous neighborhood book drives, collecting almost 1,000 books.
It's fulfilling to know that we've helped so many kids gain access to books through Promising Pages, and our vision is that Hope for Books will help other families find organizations in their own communities to help, just like we found Promising Pages.
