About Us

Hope for Books was founded in the summer of 2026 through a student research project focusing on reading and literacy among children. We discovered that a complete, easily accessible, state-by-state directory of book banks couldn't be found anywhere online. That gap became the spark for Hope for Books Inc., which has recently received nonprofit status in North Carolina.​

We set a goal to build a thorough directory with multiple verified book banks per state. We're working toward that goal, adding newly verified book banks and donation locations as we discover them.

This resource exists so that anyone who wants to help can take part in solving the literacy and book access challenges our country faces today.

Hope for Books was born out of a love of reading and service — and we hope to pass that passion on to as many others as we can.
